Having been a working parent herself, a lecturer in child care studies and now with a grandson using child care, Jeannette brings to her work an enthusiasm and passion for the subject matter.

One of Australia’s best known authors and speakers on parenting and children’s behaviour, Jeannette Harrison has a background in child development, psychology and teaching, and a commitment to assisting people to better understand themselves, their children and their relationships. Jeannette is author of three successful books:

  • Understanding Children: Towards Responsive Relationships (ACER Press, 1991),
  • Understanding Children (ACER PRESS 1996, Ashgate Publising UK, 1997),
  • Understanding Children: Foundations for Quality (ACER Press, 2004).

Jeannette has lectured at Swinburne University and RMIT University in Melbourne. She was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 1993 to undertake study and research overseas and again worked overseas in early 1998, on a Creswick Foundation Fellowship, enabling her to extend her research in the area of work-life balance and family friendly workplace practices.
